CHIHUAHUA BEAUTY CONTEST, PET BLESSING & SMALL DOG FESTIVAL
THE HAUTE
DOG organization (pronounced "HOT") is a diverse and growing network of dog owners, lovers, educators, rescuers and supporters. Our common bond has resulted in a unique and lively community of folks who share some qualities of our favorite dogs: devotion, spirit and tenacity.
EDUCATE & INFLUENCE Through educational outreach and events, we hope to help inspire a better understanding and appreciation of dogs, dispel damaging myths, encourage responsible ownership practices, and offer practical adoption and rescue opportunities. Warm regards,
Justin Rudd!

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
Then, a huge, annual Interfaith Blessing of the Animals will take place at noon with a special "Blessing of the Small Dogs." All sizes of dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, birds, fish, ponies, and other legal pets are welcome. Last year, more than 300 various pets were blessed by nine various faith leaders. This year, we will also have some exotic animals as our guests (see below). DETAILS
THIS IS THE SECOND LARGEST PET BLESSING IN THE U.S. HELD IN CONJUCTION WITH ST. FRANCIS DAY.
EXOTIC GUESTS Blessing to include a fox, 12-ft. python, alligator, sloth, 30-lb. porcupine and…
THE BLESSING AT NOON is free and open to any legal, well-behaved pets. There are always lots of dogs, cats, rats, snakes, fish, turtles, lizards, birds, fish, bunnies, etc. This year, organizers are working with a Wildlife Education team to bring some more unusual animals to get blessed by the various faith leaders. These animals will be brought out one at a time at the very beginning of the outdoor service:
4 Latin-American two-toed sloth (size of a medium dog)
4 North American porcupine (approx. 30 lbs.)
4 African Fennec Fox (size of a Chihuahua)
4 African Desert Tortoise
4 Burmese Python (12 ft. long)
4 young American alligator (4 ft. long)
4 Black-throated Monitor Lizard (4 ft. long)
4 Nine-banded Armadillo
Additionally, the Aquarium of the Pacific is bringing:
4California king snake
4blue-tongue skink
4Rainbow Lorikeet.
Do you have a Beverly Hills Chihuahua? A Long Beach Chihuahua? A Newport Beach Chihuahua? Or, some other city, county, neighborhood to represent? Get your dog's name & title on the list below.
The pet blessing at noon will be followed by the Chihuahua Beauty Contest at 1 p.m. All ages and types of Chihuahuas are welcome to enter. Mixes are welcome, too.
Real life beauty queens will select an overall male and female to reign supreme and win the BIG gift certificates to local pet shops.
The Chihuahuas will be evaluated on personality, charm, face, figure, and first impression. This is a contest where gender is no limitation.
Clothing is optional. We know that most Chihuahuas are so adorable that they shouldn't be covered up!
The quadrupeds will parade down a 100-ft. red carpet runway, flanked by hundreds of gawkers.
